2020 GEMS FOR CHILDREN

Living with a tiny book nerd is no easy job. She needs to be entertained at all times and a bed time story turns almost always into two, three, four or ten stories. Library is our favourite place and she can’t choose just one book because she is three years old so therefore she needs three books with every visit.

Although we always borrow from the local library, there are so many times when a book store is the destination because she needs the books to be hers, because she wants that story forever and ever and I am not one to refuse books to a child. She is so sweet and her book addiction can only make me proud. We are always on the lookout for new amazing adventures and for this year there are few new releases we are waiting to get our hands on.

DAISY AND THE PROBLEM WITH NATURE

Daisy and her class are so excited when their new school nature garden is unveiled. Trouble is, there’s not very much nature in it. No birds, no butterflies, no ants, no spiders, no grizzly bears and definitely no wolverines. Just lots of mud.

So when Daisy and Gabby find out Gabby’s dad is taking them camping that weekend, they decide it’s the perfect chance to find some nature at last!

DARWIN’S DRAGONS by Lindsay Galvin

Robinson Crusoe meets How to Train Your Dragon in this wonderful adventure from Lindsay Galvin!

Syms Covington has landed the job of a lifetime – cabin boy and fiddler on Charles Darwin’s Beagle. But when he is separated from the crew during a storm, his life takes a truly extraordinary turn. Shipwrecked on a Galapagos island, he makes a discovery that could change the world – and make his fortune. But should he share his find, or will it lead to the extinction of a legendary species? There’s one person who could help, but he’s busy writing a book …

THE GIRL WHO STOLE AN ELEPHANT by Nizrana Farook

Chaya, a no-nonsense, outspoken hero, leads her friends and a gorgeous elephant on a noisy, fraught, joyous adventure through the jungle where revolution is stirring and leeches lurk.

Will stealing the queen’s jewels be the beginning or the end of everything for the intrepid gang?

THE PUG WHO WANTED TO BE A BUNNY by Bella Swift

There’s some-bunny new in Peggy the pug’s family – and she’s hopping mad! A funny new springtime adventure from the bestselling author of The Pug Who Wanted to Be a Unicorn.

Peggy the pug’s family have adopted an adorable little bunny, just in time for Easter. Peggy used to be top dog, but now she has to share their attention with this long-eared newcomer. Jealous of the new pet, Peggy decides that she must become a rabbit to compete. Can every-bunny learn to get along and realise that there’s more than enough love to go around?

A funny story with an uplifting message about sibling rivalry.

And these are just about ten percent of the books we will discover this year. I am looking forward to find out what stories will replace her favourite ones at the moment. She is obsessed with Julia Donaldson and there is no day without SUPERWORM and TIDDLER THE STORY TELLING FISH and obviously THE GRUFFALO (she knows it by heart and can never have enough of it)
